10 Tips to Create Bad Public Relations

Public Relations is an expertise, which requires a lot of multitasking and communication skills. The main goal of this is to maintain and boost the integrity of a company, smelling good enough for gaining the public’s trust and confidence in them. But, why do some companies is given the impression of being unpleasant in spite of their Public Relations department working well?  Maybe they are not doing the right way resulting in an untoward consequence for the company.

For a clear overview, let us take 10 tips that could contribute towards bad Public Relations.

  1. Wrong Information. All Information in Public Relations should be genuine and true. You cannot gamble here by uttering lies if you want to shoot up your company. If the media takes notice of the wrong information you spread, they will surely make a big deal out of it and your inflow will surely diminish until such time when you find yourself at the down side of the boat. So, better scrutinize every information that you take hold of.
  2. Language Barrier. As much as possible you want your company to be flexible and cater to the information needed by the public. You can opt for a person who speaks a lot of languages so it will not hinder the success of your company. Also, if you are dealing with a general race, the language of choice should be your native language so that accommodation to the public will not be a problem.
  3. Charisma is a Skill. Many people usually talk about things and in an instant you may like him or her, there are also some who seek too much attention just to grab one and is still left with no one to talk to. This by far what we call as charisma. Admit it! Not all people are born to have this; so, you have to choose a person who has got loads of it to preserve the uprightness of the company.
  4. Unpleasant Attitude. Attitude really plays an important role in public relations. It determines the whole company’s position since these PR are the ones who are setting a foot forward for the company’s integrity. You would not want your company to be tagged as appalling right?
  5. Low Budget. Public Relations need a lot of socializing and they normally do not get enough with a small budget. They have to work in as many ways as possible just to put up a good name for the company. They will make use of mass media, which costs a lot these days and a little budget won’t be enough for it.
  6. Questions left unanswered. It is a must that every question posed by a client should be answered immediately. If it takes time, the clients have the tendency to withdraw their planned account because they will lose trust on the company. The public relations should be very fast in dealing with this situation to cater every client’s needs.
  7. Educational Background. The Public Relation Team must consist of members who are highly educated and highly regarded. They have to be credible enough in dealing with the spices of every industry that is present.
  8. Past Experience. A company may have a bad record in the past but public relations team are the ones who are challenged the most. No matter how good they are, people will continue to think negatively about the company, and the public relation thinks about turning the tables. Rest assured, this condition ranks the toughest.
  9. Substandard Products. Though Public relations are working its way up to the top and making a product look good, people will never believe if the product itself is not good enough for their use. It will contribute to a negative reputation for the company and will then result in rank public relations falling below the line.
  10. Mismanagement of Client Relationships. Every Public Relation officer should be able to handle their clients in the most suitable manner they could. If by chance, an officer argues with a client for a certain reason and damage is done, this will lead to the generalization of the company’s behavior, resulting in bad PR relations with people.

What do you look for in your hotel?

July 19th, 2008

What do you look for in a hotel? Staying in one recently, I was shocked by the quality. It was late at night so I had no choice, but suffice to say it was the most rankest, stinkiest, crappiest hotel I’ve ever stayed in.

Luckily, I’d drank far too much beer, and I’d missed my last train home, so it beat sleeping on a marble floor at some train station but…ewww!

This review says it all.

Absolutely disgusting there were unknown stains on the curtains and the carpet did not even touch the walls!! Unfortunately we were TRICKED into staying in this dump. We only made it to the reception area which was smelly and the receptionist/owner was very unfriendly.

It’s called the Gresham hotel and I just would not recommend it.

Canterbury a place of history and beauty

July 19th, 2008

Laying peacefully on the pleasant River Stour, Canterbury manages to mix city, coast and country perfectly.  The rolling,  hills surround the bustling, cosmopolitan city are complimented perfectly bybeautiful beaches and seaside resorts.Situated in Kent, Canterbury is a city steeped in history.  Boasting an impressive past, there are a large quantity of  buildings and monuments still in place today.

Surrounded by a solid, city wall that is centuries old, the ruins of the famous St Augestine abbey are still visible and The Kings School – cited as the oldest school in England - is still an active school. With two railway stations and easy access from the UK’s major motorways, Canterbury is a city accessible to everyone.

Split into various sections, Canterbury has something for all tastes. In the more cosmopolitan and contemporary areas, there are trendy bars, bistro cafés and exceptional, high street named stores to fulfill even the most avid shoppers needs. The older parts of Canterbury offer a more Bohemian feel, with the charm of this easy going life prominent throughout the many art galleries, boutiques and unique craft and gift shops.Moving further to the shore and there are two stunning seaside resorts.  Whistable, famous for its oysters, seafood and deep, maritime history has a beautiful beach and is favoured by couples of all ages.  Just along the coast is Herne Bay, a favourite with families.  Wonderful beaches, superb seafront gardens and fun-filled family events taking place throughout the summer.

One of Canterbury’s most popular land tourist attractions is also regularly used and open to all – Canterbury Cathedral.  Dating 597 AD, beautiful stained glass windows line the cathedrals walls, which is open as a tourist attraction throughout the day whilst also running daily services.  The minimal fee asked to gain entry into the cathedral is worth every penny, as it’s all used to keep the cathedral up and running for all to value.

Food wise, Canterbury really does have everything.  In a few days you could sample a fresh, Italian pizza and an American burger or a traditional, English roast and a fantastic Greek mezze.  If they don’t sound appetizing enough, how about one of the many other restaurants, including Mexican, Chinese, Thai, Arabic and Indian?  Furthermore, if you’re lucky enough to be able to reserve a table, the Café des Amis is extremely popular among locals and recommended by all who visit.

Whilst Canterbury offers all sorts of accommodation types, from bed and breakfasts to self-catering holiday cottages, the two most popular accommodation types in Canterbury have to be the numerous caravan and camping sites or one of the many wonderful Canterbury hotels Wherever you decide to stay, the majority of the accommodations are within a stones throw from Canterbury, meaning you never have to travel far after a day shopping and taking in the sights.  Most who visit Canterbury find it hard to believe that their time has passed so quickly.  With so much to do, so many attractions to see and so much food to try, it’s often said your first visit to Canterbury will never be your last.

Eating out in London Town

July 17th, 2008

There are a variety of nice places and interesting cuisines to try out in London. The quality of food as well as the dining experience is prominent as it competes with New York as being the restaurant capital of the world. Top Ten Things To Do In Liverpool

Liverpool is a city in celebration. Winning the 2008 Capital City of Culture award has brought fresh investment intended to match the amenities of the old city to the passion of its devoted citizens. With money poured into renovating the city centre, improving shopping facilities and areas for nightlife along with the rapid growth of Liverpool as a city of art and culture Liverpool is the booming city of the North, genuinely a city that has something for everyone. It is certainly worth a visit with lots of places to stay too.

The Cavern Club
The self-proclaimed ‘most famous club in the world’ is the legendary birthplace of the Beatles and without doubt one of the most important cultural landmarks in Liverpool. Inspired by Parisian cellar bars the Cavern Club opened in 1957 but it wasn’t until November 9th 1961 when the unknown Beatles were introduced to Brian Epstein that the club cemented its place in pop history. Since the Beatles completed their 292 show residency artists such as The Rolling Stones, The Kinks, The Who and recently the Arctic Monkeys have gone on to play at The Cavern defining the club as a hot-spot for emerging talent and an icon in world music.

The Cavern Club is situated along the lively Mathew Street just off the city centre and is open daily from 12pm holding live music nights and DJ events playing anything from Mersey Beat to Brit Pop.

Albert Dock

This secluded patch of Liverpool’s heritage offers a break from the city centre with plenty to see and do across a picturesque waterfront. Combining bars and restaurants with museums and tours the Albert Dock has something for everyone. The Merseyside Maritime Museum and the National Slavery Museum as are certainly worth a look and Babycream and Panamerican Club are both great places for something to eat or a quick drink.

Turning The Place Over

Described as the most daring piece of public art in the world, Richard Wilson’s revolving slice of condemned office block is a sight to be seen. Set just outside the city centre in Moorfields and only viewable during daylight hours Wilson has cut out a huge 8-metre oval from a building’s façade allowing it to rotate in its place exposing glimpses of the inside to passers by.

China Town

Liverpool has one of the largest and most established Chinese communities in Europe. The Imperial Arch on Berry Street acts as a gateway to an area revitalized with the Capital of Culture award. With bars and restaurants open daily and a busy market selling clothes, herbs, food and drink open on a Sunday Liverpool’s famous China Town is a colourful escape from the city centre.

Tate Liverpool

Founded as part of the 1988 renovation of the Albert Dock the gallery houses important works from both contemporary and classical artists and offers fresh non-permanent exhibitions and a full package of activities for children. The gallery is open Tuesday to Sunday 10pm – 5pm.

Concert Square

The hive of Liverpool nightlife is always busy as bars and restaurants compete for custom with staggering drinks deals and nauseatingly infectious Scouse House music. Modo and Arena are two of the best while Walkabout is always a lively place to watch any football, cricket or rugby matches.

Rawhide Comedy Club

Always good for a meal and a laugh the Rawhide Comedy club at the Royal Court on Roe Street has hosted the likes of Peter Kay, Jimmy Carr and Johnny Vegas and continues to attract the best emerging comedy talent from around the world. Thursday, Friday and Saturday are the main nights but be sure to book early as tickets are usually sold-out on the door.

Anfield Tour and Museum

You can’t go to Liverpool without at least one proud local reminding you that the football club representing the red half of the city is the most successful British club around. The tour takes you behind the scenes at the club, visiting the dressing rooms and sitting in the team dugout while the museum holds a large number of trophies and memories including the European Cup installed permanently after Liverpool’s fifth victory in the 2005 final in Istanbul.

Walker Art Gallery

This gallery really is the ‘National Gallery’ of the north. Situated across from Lime Street station on William Brown Street the neo-classical Walker Gallery has a large collection of work spanning the years from the pre-Raphaelite works of Rembrandt and Degas to contemporary works from Lucien Freud and David Hockney.
